Galvanised Edging for Gardens and Driveways
Galvanised steel is the ideal choice for long-lasting garden edging. Whatever the weather throws at it, galvanised lawn edging is tough enough to withstand it and continue to look fantastic.
The galvanised finish on our driveway edging protects it against corrosion and weathering. This makes it ideally suited to wet environments and gardens in coastal regions where saltwater can affect other types of metals.
Our galvanised garden edging is fully rust-resistant and robust enough to border driveways, tiered gardens, large planters and more. Favoured by local authorities for amenity areas due to its strength and durability, it will help you complete your landscaping to a high standard.
Durable, weather-resistant galvanised lawn edging
Our galvanised steel lawn edging is available across our Legacy 3, 5 and 6 ranges, providing an easy-to-install option for your back garden or driveway.
Made from UK steel, we provide our edging on a self-install basis or with a full installation service.
In addition to its durability and ease of installation, galvanised garden edging offers a sleek and modern aesthetic that enhances the overall appearance of your outdoor space.
Galvanised garden edging FAQs
Does galvanised steel rust?
Galvanised steel is fully rust and corrosion-resistant due to the zinc coating applied to its surface. Eventually, this coating will wear down, leaving the steel open to rust. However, this can take decades.
How long does galvanised steel lawn edging last?
Galvanised steel can last anywhere from 30 to 170 years, depending on its use and the environment. As it can withstand moisture and adverse weather conditions, your garden edging will stay in excellent condition for decades.
What is the best thickness for steel garden edging?
We sell galvanised edging in 5mm and 6mm thicknesses.
5mm thick steel edging is designed to suit garden pathways, formal borders, and driveways.
Our 6mm thick galvanised steel edging is our strongest garden and driveway edging. It’s popular with landscapers, home builders, architects, and gardeners for its strength and durability.
A 6mm thick steel edging can be used to border driveways, gardens, raised beds, terraces, and lakes.
How do you install galvanised edging?
Installing galvanised garden edging is as easy as installing any of our Legacy Edging products.
1. Mark out the line using string or a marker spray.
2. Once you are happy with it, dig a narrow trench (about 10cm wide) along the line. This trench must be deep enough for approximately half of the vertical face of your edging to sit underground.
3. Starting from the most prominent corner of your line, install your edging by attaching two to three lengths using the locking pins. Bend the lengths as needed as you move along the line.
4. When you’re happy that the line is correct, starting at the corner, drive the pins into the ground until they are level with the collars.
We also provide a full installation service.
Can lawn edging (galvanised) be painted?
You can paint galvanised steel lawn edging if you want to change the colour, although the coating provides enough protection without needing paint. However, you must ensure the paint is formulated for galvanised steel.
Using the wrong paint system will mean the paint peels or sheds due to the zinc coating on the steel.
